What Are The Benefits of Diet Pills (If Any)?
Can Diet pills such as Lipozene be substituted for conventional exercise and balanced diet?
With more than 60% of the American population being overweight or obese, the diet pill industry is highly functional. With the internet being flooded with ads of various diet pills, you must have encountered superbly worded claims about how a diet pill can make your life so much better and how each is better than every other pill.
And you then would have thought about the side effects, and wouldn’t have believed that it would actually work. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. However, not all diet pills are just a scam to loot you. There are quite a few FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved diet pills and weight loss supplements which can really help you with your weight loss goals. In this article we focus on the good and effective side of the coin.
Typically, Diet pills claim to suppress your appetite, burn calories, boost up your metabolism and make you more energetic. (Of course, it’s no wonder our blog is dedicated to Lipozene, one such product.)
The pills do all these with the help of certain ingredients which are found in many of them diet pills. Caffeine, Niacin, Capsaicin, etc are some of the commonly found ingredients. Caffeine acts as an appetite suppressant, and also increases energy levels.
Niacin-Vitamin B3 helps improve cholesterol levels in the body and hence reducing risks of cardiovascular diseases. Capsaicin, increases body temperature and keeps the body burning calories throughout the day.
This process is called the Thermogenic effect, in which the body generates heat by increasing the metabolic rate above normal. It has been shown that Capsaicin can burn about 270 calories a day! With such results, one would wonder if one needs to do any exercise at all.
There are some diet pills which mainly focus on suppressing appetite. These pills can work in two ways, either by filling up your stomach or by tricking your brain in to feeling full faster.
Glucomannan, a compound extracted from Konjac root, absorbs water and expands. (Read our
post on Glucomannan). Hence pills with Glucomannan such as Lipozene are taken with sufficient amount of water so that they expand only in the stomach. Such pills have shown in studies to achieve weight loss up to 5.5 pounds a week. Then there are pills which use drugs to manipulate the hypothalamus gland in the brain to make you feel full.
The end effect is you eat less and hence keep away extra and unnecessary calories. The pills themselves help you keep up energy levels for your day to day activities. These diet pills, affect the rate of absorption of fat. They can make the body burn fat instead of storing it.
This helps in preventing the fat to get deposited in the first place. Some pills act as diuretics, they release the excess water your body is storing to reduce the water weight.
Sure there are side effects to diet pills like Lipozene, but many of the diet pills are stringently being tested, proven and approved by the FDA. This gives them credibility and gives you the sense of trust in them. Also, most of the pills use natural ingredients which are generally safe, and do not cause any adverse side effects.
Then there are drugs, for example Phentermine, which was very popular in its day, but due to its long list of side effects,
it was banned.
Hence, it is always advisable that you consult your doctor before you start using any diet pills. Most of the companies which sell diet pills also give you a suitable diet plan to improve your weight loss process. This is a good thing for people who buy these diet pills without a prescription.
People who are not able to lose weight on their own and or are very busy in their lives, can take the help of diet pills while they make a transition to a healthy lifestyle. I personally would never prefer diet pills over physical activity and a healthy lifestyle, but I must accept that diet pills work.
But everything should be in moderation; you cannot simple solely on diet pills or take excess of diet pills to see quick changes. Diet pills work best when taken as supplements to daily exercise and a balanced diet. Adopting a healthy lifestyle is a must if you want to lose weight in the long run.
In the end, it all comes down to balance, how well you adjust your level of activity with your food intake. And when the ratio is skewed, that’s when such products come to the rescue. Pills such as Lipozene are specifically designed for people who either do not have time for workouts, or are so busy that they cannot take a balanced diet.
Do we recommend these though?
Surprisingly, NO. Sure, if you’re going to take these for a short term, you might try and see the results. But for long term weight loss and good health, nothing, nothing can beat eating clean and indulging in lots of physical activity.
